AI networking has reached scale

AI networking has reached scale.
Cisco reported FY26 Q4 results illustrating how quickly AI infrastructure demand is expanding:
- Networking revenue reached $9.8 billion, up 28% year over year.
- Networking product orders grew 40%, marking eight consecutive quarters of double-digit growth.
- Hyperscaler AI infrastructure orders reached $4 billion in Q4 and $9.3 billion for fiscal 2026.
- AI infrastructure generated approximately $4 billion in fiscal 2026 revenue. Cisco expects $7.5 billion in fiscal 2027.
These figures represent more than strong demand for networking equipment.
They show AI infrastructure expanding from a compute decision into a complete architectural decision.
Enterprise leaders need to plan across:
- Compute capacity
- Data center switching and routing
- High-speed connectivity and optics
- Security and segmentation
- Power and cooling
- Visibility and operations
The first wave centers on AI data centers.
The next wave will connect AI agents to users, applications, devices, campuses, and branches.
AI does not scale on compute alone.
AI scales on architecture.
